A dog blog- is one dog enough?

Getting a new puppy isn't a decision that should be taken lightly- especially when you already have an 11 year old labrador and three kids! Apparently in our family we don't like peace and quiet so the decision was made to get Lola. Picture the scene in our house: a seven year old who does not stop kicking a football around allllllll day, a four year old who likes to climb and be naked and a two year old who likes to copy everything her big brothers do. Throw a hyperactive ball of brown fluff into the mix and you have total carnage.

Good carnage though!

Lola brings something new to our family. Her favourite way to greet you is to jump on your face and lick you and if anything at all goes missing in the house the first place to look is her bed! Stick her in the shower and she is suddenly one tenth of the size she normally is and don't get me started on the fact that she can barely see through that fringe of hers. She is a whirlwind of craziness, but in our family that's what we like.

Before we got Lola it had never occurred to us to have more than one dog. Now we've got two though I don't think I'd ever go back to having one. Seeing how having a puppy has given Spike (the lab) a new lease of life has been pretty amazing. He's gone from sleeping all day to rolling around on the floor playing, although he does get fed up and put Lola back in her place when she needs it.

So, is one dog enough? I'm not sure it is. In fact I'm already planning my next one...
